Mark November 30thin your diary, for this is when the Christmas season really gets underway in Marbella, with the annual highlight that is the lighting of a Lavish Diamond Christmas Tree at Hotel Kempinski and the opening of the most stylish Christmas market on the Costa del Sol.
Father Christmas will be on hand to assist with the ceremony and lend a thoughtful ear to the wishes of the children gathered for the celebration. The five-metre high tree alone is worth the visit – designed by diamond expert Debbie Wingham and adorned with over €10 million worth of diamonds and beautiful, sparkling precious stones. It’s a fairy tale for children and grownups alike!
The lights go on at 18hrs on Saturday, and there will be many an intake of breath at this wonderful spectacle, which will be followed by the lively, charming and atmospheric Christmas fair at the Kempinski Hotel Bahía on the New Golden Mile. Watch out for the edible art installation, homemade craft decorations and gifts for the season, as well as atmospheric live music, snacks and a great opportunity to catch up with friends.
Think stollen and cakes, mulled wine and hot chocolate to snack on while looking through the gourmet gifts that will have you coming over all Christmassy as the kids head for a life-sized gingerbread house. Made by the hotel’s pastry chef, Malika, it along with the Christmas tree and the children’s choir will get the season off to a good start in Marbella.
